General

Basic questions about what ILDConnect is and how it works

This is an online platform where doctors can upload patient cases โ€” especially complex ILD (Interstitial Lung Disease) cases โ€” and get expert opinions from a panel of specialists.
๐Ÿ’ก
Think of it like a virtual medical board meeting, but faster and accessible from anywhere in India.
Many doctors don't always have immediate access to specialists. ILDConnect helps by:
  • Bringing multiple experts together in one digital place
  • Reducing delays in getting a diagnosis
  • Avoiding incomplete or scattered patient information
The platform is designed for three types of users:
  • ๐Ÿฉบ Requesting Doctors โ€” to submit patient cases
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Specialist Panel Doctors โ€” to review and discuss cases
  • โš™๏ธ Admin Team โ€” to manage the workflow and scheduling
You can upload a wide range of medical files:
  • ๐Ÿ“„ Reports (PDFs)
  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Images โ€” X-rays, scans (PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF)
  • ๐ŸŽฅ Videos (MP4, AVI, MOV)
  • ๐Ÿ”ฌ DICOM files โ€” original CT/MRI scan files (.dcm, .dicom)
๐Ÿ“Ž
Max file size: 50 MB per file, 200 MB total per case submission.

For Requesting Doctors

How to submit cases, track progress, and get your MDT report

Click "Submit New Case" on your dashboard and fill in a structured form with your patient's details. The form is divided into 12 sections โ€” from clinical history to HRCT scans to your specific question for the panel.
โœ…
The system guides you step-by-step so nothing important is missed.
Yes! If you don't have all details or documents ready at once, click "Save as Draft". Your progress is saved and you can come back later to complete and submit it.
โš ๏ธ
The Save as Draft feature can only be used once per case. Deleting a draft is permanent โ€” it cannot be undone.
Your case goes through these steps:
  • ๐Ÿ” Internal Medical team checks that all details are complete
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ Case is assigned to a specialist MDT panel
  • ๐Ÿ“… An MDT discussion meeting (via Zoom) is scheduled
  • ๐Ÿ“‹ The panel's final consensus opinion is shared with you on your dashboard
Yes. You'll receive automatic email notifications at every key stage โ€” submission confirmation, revision requests, meeting scheduling, and final completion. You can also track status in real time on your dashboard.
๐Ÿ“ง
Always check your spam/junk folder if you don't receive an expected email within a few minutes.
It depends on the case status:
  • โœ๏ธ If the case is returned with "Needs Revision" โ€” you can edit and resubmit.
  • ๐Ÿ”’ Once the case is accepted by the panel, editing is locked to maintain data integrity.
Yes! In Section D of the case form, you can either:
  • ๐Ÿ“ค Upload the HRCT file directly (PNG, JPG, PDF, DICOM, MP4)
  • ๐Ÿ”— Or paste a public link โ€” Google Drive, OneDrive, or Zoom recording link
No. Patient names are never collected. Cases are identified only by a unique Case ID like ILD_Case_001.
๐Ÿ”’
We recommend uploading anonymised reports. If reports contain patient identifiers, our Internal Medical team will anonymise them before sharing with the panel.

Quick answers to explain ILDConnect to doctors you visit

๐Ÿ’ฌ
Say โ€” "This is a digital platform where doctors can upload difficult ILD cases and get expert opinions quickly from a specialist panel โ€” all online."
Faster diagnosis and better decision-making. Doctors get access to multiple specialists without needing to physically arrange a meeting. The entire process โ€” from submission to MDT report โ€” happens on one platform.
No installation needed. It works directly in any modern web browser โ€” Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Just visit www.ildconnect.in.
The platform supports all common medical formats:
  • ๐Ÿ“„ Reports (PDF)
  • ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Images (X-rays, photos)
  • ๐ŸŽฅ Videos (CT scan recordings)
  • ๐Ÿ”ฌ DICOM โ€” the original scan file format used by CT/MRI machines
Because DICOM is the original scan file โ€” not just a picture. Specialist doctors can see the full scan, adjust window levels, and zoom into specific areas. This leads to more accurate diagnosis compared to a regular image or screenshot.
Yes. The platform uses OTP-based secure login and role-based access controls. Only authorised users โ€” the requesting doctor, assigned panel, and admin โ€” can view a case.
๐Ÿ”’
Think of it like online banking security โ€” protected and controlled access at every step.

๐Ÿฉบ

For Panel Doctors

How cases reach you, what you can access, and how MDT meetings work

The Internal Medical team reviews and anonymises each submitted case, then assigns it to an appropriate specialist panel. You'll receive an email notification when a new case is placed in your bucket for acceptance.
You have access to the complete case data:
  • ๐Ÿ‘ค Patient Demographics (anonymised)
  • ๐Ÿ“‹ Clinical History
  • ๐Ÿ”ฌ Physical Examination findings
  • ๐Ÿ“ All Investigation Reports and Scans
  • โ“ The requesting doctor's specific query for the panel
Yes. DICOM files (.dcm/.dicom) are fully supported โ€” you can view scans in full quality, including all CT slices and metadata, directly on the platform.
Once you accept a case, the Internal Medical team schedules the MDT meeting and shares:
  • ๐Ÿ“… Date & time of the meeting
  • ๐Ÿ”— Zoom meeting link
All assigned panel members are notified via email with the full scheduling details.
Yes, based on your access permissions set by the admin team.

๐Ÿ”’

Data Security

How your data and patient information are kept safe

Yes. The platform is protected like a banking system โ€” secure OTP login, controlled access, and strict role-based permissions. Only you, your assigned panel, and the admin can see your cases.
Only three parties have access to a case:
  • ๐Ÿฉบ The requesting doctor who submitted it
  • ๐Ÿ‘ฅ The assigned specialist panel
  • โš™๏ธ The ILDConnect admin team
No one else can view it.
No. All file downloads are access-controlled. Users can only access files their role permits. All actions on the platform are logged.
OTP-based login with server-side session management and automatic session expiry. No passwords are stored. Each login generates a fresh 6-digit OTP valid for 5 minutes.
Uploaded files go through strict validation โ€” file type checking, size limits, and UUID-based file naming to prevent path traversal or injection. All actions are logged with rotation.
The system uses PostgreSQL with connection pooling (1โ€“20 connections) and parameterised queries to prevent SQL injection. Access is role-based and strictly controlled.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

DICOM Files

What DICOM is and why it matters for ILD diagnosis

DICOM is the standard file format used by CT and MRI machines to store medical scans. Unlike a regular JPG screenshot, a DICOM file contains the full scan data โ€” every slice, every layer, and all the scan settings.
๐Ÿ”ฌ
Think of it like the difference between a photo of an X-ray film vs. the actual X-ray film โ€” the original always has more detail.
DICOM files include:
  • โœ… Full resolution scan with all CT slices
  • โœ… Scan metadata (acquisition parameters, patient orientation)
  • โœ… Ability for doctors to adjust brightness/contrast (window levelling)
  • โœ… Radiology-level diagnostic accuracy
.dcm and .dicom files are uploaded, automatically processed for metadata extraction and preview generation, and stored linked to the case. File size and extension are validated before storage.
Yes โ€” standard file size limits apply: 50 MB per file, and 200 MB total per case submission. File extension is validated before upload is accepted.
